THE Warriors have received a major boost in their upcoming Total 2019
Africa Cup of Nations tie against Liberia after number one goalkeeper
George Chigova started training with his South African side Polokwane
City on Tuesday.
The giant goalkeeper had been called up by Zimbabwe senior national
team coach Sunday Chidzambwa despite a knee injury.
Chigova seemed to pull a muscle in the match against the Democratic
Republic of Congo (DRC) early this month, although he managed to play
the full match.
But he lasted only 28 minutes in the return leg against the Leopards
at the National Sports Stadium and was replaced by Edmore Sibanda.
News from across the Limpopo indicate the former Dynamos keeper had
resumed training in time for the November 6 big tie against Orlando
Pirates, after two weeks on the sidelines due to a nagging knee
“It was a bruised bone around the knee. “Yeah, he has started training
now. He started on Tuesday. He is healing okay, we hope he will be
ready for the next game,” the reports indicated.
City are fourth on the Absa Premiership table with 17 points – three
points shy of leaders Bidvest Wits.
